Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association The Virginia Beach Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association was established in December 2009. Chief of Police, Alfred M. “Jake” Jacocks Jr. (Retired) saw the need to bring back together past graduates of the Citizens’ Police Academy in an effort to reconnect with them in order to further partnerships, continue with the open dialogue between police and citizens and inform citizens of the current issues facing law enforcement and communities. A Board of officers were appointed and monthly meetings were scheduled where various speakers would present the latest in law enforcement trends.
Members have the opportunity to volunteer with the police department helping with administrative tasks, in the Forensics Unit, social events, assist with putting on conferences, recruit graduations, just to name a few. The Alumni Association’s goal is to provide citizens with an insight into the resources, training, and personnel of the Virginia Beach Police Department; to enhance the working relationship between the citizens of Virginia Beach and the Department; to create ambassadors to the community; and, to utilize the resources within the community by encouraging involvement in Police Department activities. |
